Cast Stone Replacement for the John Sowden House

Frank Lloyd Wright Jr. designed the John Sowden House, located in Los Angeles, CA, in 1926. Almost a century later, sections of the cast stone had deteriorated, and needed replacement. To do this, we created molds based on the complete units. Damaged units were broken down and recycled to create new cast blocks, for installation into their original locations. To recreate the block pattern, we sculpted sections by hand, using recycled and matching material.

The Sowden House is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument and is in the U.S National Register of Historic Places. Wikipedia Reference:
