Plaster Ceiling Restoration for Historic Manufacturing Building

Downtown Los Angeles,
California, USA

The historic plaster ceiling at 417 South Hill Street, formerly the historic Subway Terminal, had undergone severe water damage that required restoration and repair. The building had been neglected for years, and prolonged exposure to water had caused areas of the plaster coffer ceiling to collapse, creating holes all over.

Kaptive C&P molded, fabricated, and installed the entire ceiling and columns, to reproduce the original historic decorative elements. We patched smaller areas, first applying primer coating to block any residual water contamination remaining in the surface, which could prevent the patching compound from bonding. Larger areas of damaged plaster were removed before being replastered.
