Revitalizing History: Completed Window Restoration at the Santa Barbara Courthouse

U.S. National Register of Historic Places, U.S. National Historic Landmark No. 1037

1100 Anacapa St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

The Santa Barbara Courthouse, a stunning example of Spanish-Moorish architecture, has long stood as a testament to the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. We at Kaptive C&P are proud to announce the successful completion of our recent project focused on the restoration of the courthouse’s historic metal and wood windows.

Our team meticulously restored these essential architectural features. The process began with stripping the exterior windows down to a loose and flaky standard, ensuring that every surface was adequately prepared for the restoration.

A primary goal was to ensure that all windows remained operable while maintaining their historical integrity. We carefully removed paint from the hinges and applied oil to guarantee smooth functionality. Retaining the existing glass was paramount; we patched putty as needed, diligently cleaning up the existing lines to match the original conditions.

With the structural integrity of the windows restored, we primed and painted the exterior surfaces with high-quality, exterior-grade paint.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Kaptive C&P team, the window restoration project has been completed successfully, enhancing both the beauty and functionality of this historic landmark. Our work not only honors the past but also ensures that the Santa Barbara Courthouse continues to serve future generations. We are proud to contribute to the preservation of this cherished site, helping to maintain its status as a vital part of the community’s heritage.
